Stitched illustrations and mini worlds

I had a really great day with my dear dad on monday. we took merryn to kingsand to have a pootle round. Im currently collecting photos of some of the local cornish cottages to paint. put i want ugly wonky ones not picture box ones. amongst the traditional ones there is always a less glam one, grammed into a space that shouldn't really have gone there looking all odd and nobbly these are the ugly ones that i love the most and i have strated painting up a few of the more bizzare ones. We had a great day and explore and poor merryns legs were nearly dropping off by the time we got home. I have also been busy framing up some more of my stitched illustration work to sell. I have a busy summer of stalls and fairs ahead and thought I might mix my pictures in with my usual toys and kids clothes. allot of them would be great in a childs room so they kind of go together I think. I started making little worlds inside frames too, inspired by my very fab sister who is currently making dioramas in books, (365 project, Amy Morse) well better get back to making an occupant for the box, think it may be a fox, (just because it rhymes). I might do an interesting container next something you wouldn't expect like a marg tub or some other random think....... well hey ho for now enjoy the some what weird summer and get out and explore. if you find an ugly cottage let me know..... bye... x

Birds in jars and other projects

I have been making bird mobiles today on drift wood swings. I have packaged them in jars but alas I have some with out homes as our cupboards are lacking in large jars at the moment. I will be scouring the supermarket shelves for appropriate sized jars tomorrow........so .... that's hot-dogs for breakfast, dinner, and tea for the next couple of days then. I also found a great (but a bit scanky to be honest) suitcase in someones skip in town during the week so while no one was watching a quickly swiped it and put it in my boot.....................shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............its our secret, sorry if its yours and your reading this in horror, but it was in the trash and recycling is better than land fill. I gave it a good clean when i got home and re furbished it Think it will be a great display prop for my next show. I also finished a girls dress i have had in my head for a while. May do a size range, not sure yet. Tadahhhhhhh....... from smelly to sublime......

sketch book ponderings

Hi, thought I would put in a last minute post tonight. My other half is out on the town with his mates so This is the perfect opportunistic chance to grad his very swanky posh laptop and to while away a few hours on the net, starting with my blog. I have been going through one of my many random sketch books today. I pulled out some of my original sketches that were made into art cards and sold in the shops in the last year or so. since I have been mostly sewing funny character toys of late I fancied a bit of a change and poke about in my books memory banks. some ideas made it to the shops others were taped in the book for a rainy day such as this one. Well I think they need to come out and earn there keep in my precious scrap books. I have started framing them up and putting them on my etsy site for sale so if you have spotted a sketch you like either from one of my art cards in a shop or on my random blog musing then now is the time to grad one. I would love to put them in a proper exhibition one day but as they are so very random in context colour and thought i wouldn't even know were to start in grouping them into some kind of display altogether. well a cuppa is calling and i made a cake today. It's not too great i'm afraid to admit, so as no one else in the family is too impressed i have this massive cake to get through. A slice with a brew is a good place to start.......bring on the calories..........whoop whoop yum yum...... I would post a photo of the said cake but it really doesn't look to fab either so i'll leave that to your imaginations, its bound to be better x x x

happy thoughts

Happy thoughts indeed this week. I got my long awaited embroidery from my friend Dotty Bird ( her blog is in my favorites )and my nest broach and a little extra dragonfly broach.....oh happy day...... already had comments on the nest broach. I also stitched some old toys. I cut out a few cows last year for some moo boxes I had kicking around. I made and sold two but never got round to making up the others. I also got back to squeaking teds. I was sooooooo sick of making these i had to give them a wide berth or be put of sewing for life...... I made and sold so many for the shops that they were appearing in my dreams randomly Chasing me with there squeakers going off......very scary indeed.............but I have found the love again for these little fellers and can see a second wave. Well there we go, hopefully spreading on those happy thoughts to you guys as well. enjoy the sun while it lasts and catch you all soon. x x x I shall get back to my seeds planting up and wall extions while i can...
