Cowslip summer fair pics

We had a great day at the Cowslip summer fair on saturday. It was a really sunny day thanks to the heat wave we are currently in and I got a free gander at the great british bake off demo being filmed there. Not a great one for takings although loads of people asked if I took card (might have to look into this, Pant's, really don't want to pay out for a machine though). I think if I had one sales would have been good or if cheques were still being used. I also met some really great people and possible new ventures could spring from this fair, great for networking. Anyway enough random business thinkings and here are a few more pics.
And here is our "Fox and Finch" collaberation with dotty Bird and Sue Newell(Dotty bird being one of my fox and finch girls, the other missing person was Sue Newell who sadly couldn't make it) Dotty bird was sporting her fab mad hatter hair piece and I had my swan contribution.
Just need to Say a Thankyou to John Goodchild ( the rag rug guy ) he kindly gave me some of his cheese buiscuits. I left my lunch in the fridge at home so his buiscuits saved me from dying of starvation along with Dotty Birds tangerine. I survived....yeah.... Thanks Guys.

A few more bird folk and the Flat loads

I finished a few more bird folk designs this week for the shops and summer fair onslaught this year. My next stand/fair will be Cowslip workshops summer fair/openday (Launceston,Cornwall)on 20th july so pop along and say hello if you can. I spent the sunny weekend down on the beach. I have to say that when the sun shines down in Cornwall I dont think I would want to be anywhere else in the world.
I love were I live and with the wild flowers spilling out the hedgerows and the blue sky You can see why painters and artists alike base themselves down here. I visited Flat Load which is just outside Redruth and took 195 photos on the camera.....even that is excessive for me.......the norm is about 50 a trip out ( which is still accessive I admit it ) Flat load is field after field of wild flower meadow with old mine chimneys and victorian workhouse buildings slowly being consumed by time back into the ground. I wont bore you with too many of the photos but here are a few of the best ones. mmmmmmmm.........I feel a painting coming on. I think that new canves will be Flat Load inspired now not Bird folk led.........MMMMMM....we'll see it will probably sit there a few more weeks-months before I touch it. anyway.......back to the flat load pics.
Wow, sorry about that. Got carried away, I could see myself putting all 195 photos up, yawn yawn....sorry. Well as you can see its very beautyful and worth a vist if you need a little inspiration, great for mini beast/bug hunting too with the kids. well I hope I haven't sent you to sleep with this post it is quite a long one. Take care and enjoy the sun x

facebook and pintrest obsession ahhhh help

Since my very talented friend Dotty Bird started me off on facebook I have become a total nerd. It is sooooooo addictive. and pinterest has become even more of an addiction. ahhhhhhhh......must get help. Although its good to be a bit computer savey I have been a bit antisocial to say the least in the evenings. Should be sewing and chatting not stuck on the computer. Merryn will be off to big school in september ( boo hoo ) I shall miss her cheery chatter in the day but lets hope I use my new found freedom more productivly than my evenings. I have also ( inbetween school runs and toddler entertaining ) been having a go at some art. I have always been quite handy with paint and canvas so thought my drawing skills should have a moments light in my sewing crafting world. Its been quite refreshing painting again and although its only small sketches of birds at the mo I have purchased a new canvas in hope that i spill onto that at some point.
well toodle loo for now I shall get back to my radio and tea and paint and mess. Hope you have a sunny weekend x

Bird Folk

My bird folk have been coming along, just need to stuff them and make there suits. I have never made a suit jacket this small before so if the next photo of them they are dresses in skirts you will know that it all went wrong. I have got a big craft event coming up at the Cowslip Workshops soon so need to sort out my dwindling stock ahhhhh.....no time.....ahhhh.... there may be more props than stock at this one. I have two weeks till the stall so hopefully I can get something together. I am sharing with two artists this time Dotty Bird and a ceramics artist called sue (just met her today,so im afraid i dont have any blog or web links for her yet) Sue makes beautiful porceline vases which are very minimalist and tactile. She is going to make me some ceramic doll arms for a range of linen dolls I am working on. On a more boring note can i just say that my garden is looking pretty lush and green,I do love sitting out there watching the bugs and bees pass the day away while I sip my tea. sorry if this is rather dull but thought i would share my ecium plant with you.
He is a monster of a plant and what with two wet and cold winters i didnt think he would flower this year at all ( they throw a big spike of flowers up in a tower but only every two year )he is very spiky but very cool and tropical looking . My girls are almost lost amoungst the plant beds this year but I think the girls prefer the shade and cover I just cant find them. keep thinking they have gone into next door. I rummage round looking for them at bedtime, have a few stress moments in a flap then hear mrs goggins quacking at me. I then emerge from the bushes with twigs leaves and spiders attached, (looking very scary this time of night as it is, what with smudge makeup and tired eyes so spiders is taking the biscuit) Mrs goggins just stares at me like im a loon, and waddels off...... Well wish me luck at the Cowslip stall and ill update some photos of the event next post, bye for now

Mrs Pompom now has a pom pom.......oh la lah

Mrs Pompom now has a pom pom and a box. I think boxing my hand painted dolls are the way to go. I got in a total mess though glued everything to everything and we now have no cardboard boxes in our cupboards as I stole all the packaging round the house to figure out how to make these boxes. Got told off because i used up Adams brown parcel paper roll.......never mind its all in the name of handmade and recycling. I was very happy last week to recieve this great butterfly broach off the fab Dotty Bird and also my little duck art work from jenny Blair. Both blogs are on my list so have a look. I would just do that funny link think on there names but not sure what im doing so you will have to scroll down the lists ( sorry im such an IT fluffer ). Im sure that one day i will have mastered the whole internet think .... some day.......ahhhhhh.......yes it will happen.

Meet Mrs Pom Pom

Merryn named my new doll design Mrs Pom Pom. I think its a funny name, only a 4 year old could think off. I wanted to paint a doll that i could dress is couture outfits and this is the end result. I have also had a go at sock monkeys these last two weeks, I do feel as though i'm cheating a bit they are so simple to make and i like making my own patterns generally, I like how wonky they turn out though and no matter what you do they always look like drag queens or circus performers. Something a bit exciting last week......I was invited to be one of 'Fab Little Shops' guest desiners so i sent of a few of my design to be included in there online store so keep your eyes peeled for Mr fox, White Rabbit ,Little red and a few other characters hitting the stores soon.....very exciting......heres wishing them well and to (fingers crossed)a bit of free publicity. wooooo hoooo, yipiddy do dah... and a high five ...... best not get too excited or wont sleep, bye for now x x x
